Nadim Kurrimbukus to serve 23 years for murder of Charlie Davies

A gay man who murdered his ex-boyfriend by pouring petrol over his head and setting him on fire was today jailed for a minimum of 23 years.

Nadim Kurrimbukus, 25, also known as Adam, launched a hateful vendetta against 23-year-old Charlie Davies after their relationship turned sour.

As he sentenced Kurrimbukus at Kingston Crown Court, Judge Charles Tilling told him: "The various aggravating features included the degree of planning and the particularly horrific method you chose to attack Charlie Davies.

"It was the culmination of a vendetta and because of your continued denial there seems to be a total lack of remorse."

Mr Davies’ mum, Kay Davies, branded the sentence "disgusting", and added: "Life should be life, we lost Charlie but they've still got their son.

"I don't think justice has been done.

"Nadim is an evil spawn, the lowest form of life on this planet."

Kurrimbukus filled the lock of Mr Davies' front door with super glue and waited in a nearby alleyway as his former lover returned from work to his home in Templedene Avenue, Staines, at 11.20pm on June 14 last year.

He crept up from behind - disguised in a hoodie, sunglasses and scarf - as confused Mr Davies bent down to look through the letter box.

Horrified neighbours heard Mr Davies screaming and rushed out of their houses to find him engulfed in flames. He died 12 days later of 90 per cent burns to his body.

Kurrimbukus, an accounting student, of Heath Road, Hounslow, had been fuelled by jealousy after the breakdown of their two-year relationship.

He was found guilty of murder and a separate charge of arson on April 15 after a four-week trial at Kingston Crown Court.

It is not yet known if Kurrimbukus will appeal.

More follows later.
