Gritting teams are poised to hit the streets ahead of snowfall tomorrow, Merton Council has said.
Councillor David Williams, council leader, said: “Well before the first snow fall in December we prepared as well as we possibly could, ensuring that our salt stocks were at full capacity.
"Ahead of forecast snow tomorrow our gritting teams are ready to go out in the early hours of the morning before the rush hour. We will be making our decision on whether or not to salt our main roads following discussions with the Met Office forecasters throughout the evening.”
At 6pm today, the Met Office was forecasting heavy snow in Wimbledon between 9am and 3pm tomorrow and sleet tomorrow evening.
