A student from St George’s Hospital’s Medical School in Tooting won a London Colleges League match for the first time on Wimbledon Common last Wednesday.
Joe Merwood was a runaway winner over 5.6 miles in 31 minutes, 59 seconds, well clear of Alex Milne, of Imperial College (32.52), with St Mary’s Steve Scullion third (33:01).
With series leader Ash Harrell next in 33:26, St Mary’s easily took team honours despite the absence of their top runner, Andy Vernon.
Other St Mary’s finishers: 5 Stu Huntington 33.28, 6 Tim Traynor 33.30, 11 David Fry 34.39, 16 Ben Lindsay 36:03, 21 Rick Ward 37:14.
Other St George’s runners: 24 Will Barker 37:29, 40 Alex Smith 40:36.
